HIGH ANGLE EQUIPMENT & CREW SAFETY
Since 1978 our staff have been involved with crew safety in high places in TV productions, Feature Movies and Commercials. One of the most memorable was the making of Mountain Dew on the Edge Adventure series with Television personality Lana Coc-kroft. When we filmed the Hole in the Rock Episode in which Lan became the first woman to rappel/abseil the rock face, we had asked permission from the local Iwi. The island is a sacred place to them, and it would have been insensitive to have a female on TV blatantly ignoring the Maori protocols. We had a welcoming powhiri at which we were informed that we were the very first Pakeha to acknowledge the Iwi as guardians of the land - ever! None of the existing tour operators had ever done so. Because of our respect for them, they gave us permission to do the abseil.
It was a challenging day getting the crew on top of the rock spire by helicopter - but we succeeded and made a great TV episode. One of many we did.

Whangarei Falls
Abseiling through the Whangarei Falls at Tikipunga was the site for a number of productions including Mountain Dew on the Edge TV series. For all productions we ensured performer safety, crew safety and enhanced cameraman opportunities by allowing the camera and/or the cameraman to access dramatic sets withing the location - including access UNDER the waterfall at Whangarei.
